Check the workers more often, from all points of view, go often to work places, speak directly with them to see how they are, site managers must be in the way. Do more checks and pay the worker at the time.
They're redoing the facade of my apartment building. They work without any logical connection, 5 minutes a day. I know for 3 months that my 4-storey building has been closed by scaffolding! And the “funny” thing is that they started a new one! A shocking company, zero professionalism. To scratch a railing a week, if I took it myself I would do it sooner.

I had the privilege of working with a company with its own staff both in terms of construction and provisional works as well as plant engineering.

As a DL and CSE I am following an extraordinary maintenance job on the facades of a large real estate complex in the Montagnola area. There are numerous fields of intervention in which he manages to excel, even if their prerogative is building renovations, especially complex ones such as large civil and industrial buildings.
